CSTF Safeguarding Children (Healthcare) - Level 1

CSTF Safeguarding Children Level 1 training is required for all staff working in healthcare settings, including clinical, non-clinical, administrative, support and voluntary staff. It provides essential awareness of child maltreatment indicators, vulnerability factors and reporting duties, in line with the Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) (England) v1.1.

This course is aligned with the CSTF Safeguarding Children (Version 3) Level 1 learning outcomes, including recognition of abuse indicators, awareness of exploitation and online harm, understanding child vulnerability, children’s rights, safeguarding legislation, and knowing what action to take if concerns arise.

This Level 1 course covers the key indicators of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, as well as neglect. It explores grooming, trafficking, FGM, forced marriage and county lines, alongside online abuse and digital risks. Learners will understand risks affecting vulnerable groups, including looked-after children, the impact of parental mental health, domestic abuse and substance misuse, children’s rights, key safeguarding legislation, and how and when to report concerns appropriately.
