Championing connection, sharing, and community in every sphere of life

From 24 to 30 June 2025, we come together to celebrate World Wellbeing Week, a global initiative founded by WellBeing World to spotlight the many dimensions of wellbeing. Now in its sixth year, this movement has gained international momentum by encouraging individuals, organisations, and policymakers to prioritise wellbeing in all its forms - mental, physical, emotional, social, financial, and professional.

This year’s theme, “Connection, Sharing, and Community”, calls attention to the deep and transformative power of human relationships. In an increasingly digital and fast-paced world, cultivating meaningful connections and creating a sense of belonging has never been more vital.

The broader meaning of wellbeing

Wellbeing is not limited to personal health; it encompasses a person's whole experience - how we feel, function, and connect with others and the environment. A sense of well-being contributes to resilience, enabling us to cope with everyday stressors and empowering individuals to realise their potential and participate in society meaningfully.

Yet, many people face barriers to achieving wellbeing, from mental health challenges and social isolation to financial insecurity and unequal access to support services. World Wellbeing Week 2025 provides an opportunity to:

  • Recognise the challenges people face
  • Share effective strategies and resources
  • Celebrate successes in wellbeing advocacy and practice
  • Promote inclusivity and peer-led support systems.

2025 theme - Why connection, sharing, and community matter

Connection

Human beings are social by nature. Positive relationships are crucial for maintaining emotional stability, promoting happiness, and enhancing longevity. This year’s theme encourages us to invest time and energy into maintaining genuine relationships - whether at home, in the workplace, or through community networks. Strong connections reduce the impact of loneliness, enhance mental clarity, and create a sense of purpose.

Sharing

Sharing our stories, experiences, and challenges helps to normalise vulnerability and foster mutual understanding. When people feel safe to speak out, whether about mental health, workplace stress, or life transitions, we create an environment of trust and empathy. Sharing can break stigma and open pathways for support and healing.

Community

Being part of a supportive and inclusive community significantly boosts wellbeing. Communities - whether local, digital, cultural, or workplace-based - offer the emotional and practical scaffolding people need to thrive. In times of uncertainty, our communities serve as anchors that remind us we’re not alone.

How you can get involved - Practical ways to celebrate

Whether you’re an individual, a team leader, or part of a wider organisation, here are some meaningful ways to take part in World Wellbeing Week 2025:

For individuals

  • Start a daily gratitude journal and share with friends or family
  • Reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while
  • Take a digital detox and prioritise real-world connection
  • Attend a community or wellbeing-focused event.

For workplaces

  • Launch a staff wellbeing campaign or ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ initiative
  • Organise mindfulness or movement sessions
  • Share internal success stories that highlight resilience and connection
  • Encourage team check-ins and peer-to-peer appreciation
  • Offer flexible schedules or wellbeing days to prevent burnout.

For communities

  • Host local meetups or community walks
  • Create safe spaces for storytelling and active listening
  • Promote inclusive community events and services
  • Collaborate with local wellbeing advocates or mental health groups.

Conclusion

World Wellbeing Week 2025 is more than a celebration - it’s a call to reflect and reimagine how we connect, support, and uplift each other. In times of division, stress, and uncertainty, our collective well-being depends on shared responsibility and community spirit.

We invite all individuals, educators, leaders, healthcare professionals, and businesses to use this week as an opportunity to reassess their wellbeing priorities and take action that lasts well beyond seven days.

The role of workplaces in supporting wellbeing

A considerable portion of our lives is spent at work. That’s why organisational wellbeing is a cornerstone of this year’s awareness campaign. A healthy, engaged, and connected workforce is not only more productive but also more resilient and motivated.

At The Mandatory Training Group, we recognise the critical role that employers play in creating psychologically safe and inclusive environments. Through our comprehensive solutions, including the ComplyPlus™, we support businesses in embedding wellbeing into their operational culture. This includes:

  • Integrating mental health awareness and training
  • Promoting flexible working conditions
  • Tracking wellbeing metrics and compliance
  • Ensuring access to up-to-date policies and support systems.

Wellbeing shouldn’t be a tick-box exercise - it should be a core organisational value.
