As I reflect on the past month, I am excited to share my Veganuary 2024 experience—a month filled with discovery, joy, and surprisingly, a lot of delicious meals. What started as a New Year's resolution for a healthier start turned into a journey that not only transformed my diet but also reshaped my perspective on food, health, and lifestyle.

The challenge
Admittedly, the prospect of cutting out animal products, meat, and even tea sounded daunting at first. Yet, I embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, realising it was an opportunity to not only detoxify my body but also to explore a world of plant-based possibilities. Overcoming my initial reservations, I dived into research on vegan nutrition and meal planning, setting the stage for a month of culinary adventures.
Dietary surprises
One of my biggest surprises was how much I enjoyed the process of planning and preparing vegan meals. Contrary to my expectations, I found joy in experimenting with new ingredients and recipes. Even my family, despite occasional "cheating days," joined in, adopting some of the plant-based meals into their routines. What I initially thought would be a restrictive diet turned out to be a source of excitement and anticipation for each day's meal.

Health transformations
As the month unfolded, I began to notice positive changes in my health and well-being. Research-backed health benefits of a vegan diet became apparent, including lower cholesterol levels and support for weight loss. Maintaining a nutritional balance by incorporating essential vitamins like B12, D, omega-3, and minerals such as calcium, iodine, and iron proved crucial to sustaining energy levels throughout the month.

Beyond the plate
As January comes to a close, I find myself not only proud of successfully completing the Veganuary challenge but also considering making this plant-based lifestyle a more permanent part of my routine. The month was not just a dietary experiment; it was a holistic exploration of health, compassion, and sustainability. Through this experience, I've come to appreciate that embracing a vegan lifestyle is not only good for the planet but also a delightful journey towards personal well-being. Cheers to a month of fun-filled, plant-powered living.

Conclusion
In all these years, I have gained so much knowledge and experience through work, training, and development. I now wish to pass this knowledge along with other people so they can be better caregivers, be more compassionate, and show empathy when they do their work.
Therefore, I intend to tell parts of my professional story in this blog, as well as all the blogs I will write in the future. Many of them will relate to my family and what it means to be a working mother since I know many women, as well as men, are supporting and looking after their families while they carry on with their lives.
