Hi there! I'm Jaden, and I just had the coolest (and a bit scary) adventure trying out for our school play called "Sing." I want to tell you all about how I chose to audition for two totally different characters and what I learned from it.

Picking who to be - Buster Moon and Big Daddy

First off, deciding who to try out for was super exciting. I picked Buster Moon, a really cool koala who runs a theatre. He's super confident and has this amazing vibe that makes everyone listen to him. He's short like me, but he shows that being a leader isn't about how tall you are.

Then, there's Big Daddy. He's the total opposite of Buster because he's a big, tough leader of a mafia, and he's supposed to be really intimidating. I thought it would be fun to try both because they're so different. It was like getting to be two completely opposite people in one day!

What trying out felt like

Going into the audition was a mix of butterflies in my stomach and a huge rush of excitement. For Buster, I had to bring out my most confident and charming self. I imagined what it would be like to be in charge of a big theatre and tried to act that out.

For Big Daddy, I had to pretend to be tough and a bit scary, which was kind of fun because it's so not me. It was like playing dress-up but for a real play. This whole thing wasn't just about saying lines from a script. It was about showing I could be these characters, feel what they feel, and make others believe it.

Thinking about what comes next

Now that auditions are over, I can't stop thinking about who I'll get to play. Even if I end up not getting either role, I'm just happy I got to try. This experience taught me a lot about trying new things and not being scared to show who I am.

I've learned that it's okay to be a bit nervous and that being confident isn't just about feeling sure of yourself all the time. It's also about being brave enough to try, even when you're unsure how it'll turn out.

A little advice from me to you

To anyone else thinking about trying out for a play or doing something new, I'd say go for it! You might discover something really cool about yourself. And even if it doesn't go exactly how you planned, you'll have a fun story to tell.

I can't wait to find out if I'll be Buster Moon, Big Daddy, or someone else. But no matter what, I'm super glad I tried.
