  • Employees and the self-employed have essential responsibilities too. An employer must protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees and other people who might be affected by their business. Employers must do whatever is reasonably practicable to achieve this.

    An employee's duties are to:

  • Take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by what they do or do not do.
  • Cooperate with the employer on health and safety matters.
  • Do not misuse any equipment that is provided specifically for safety purposes.
  • Legal Requirements. Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (No. 10 of 2005) required employers to manage and conduct their work activities in such a manner.
