Roles and responsibilities

Exciting opportunities have arisen for highly motivated individuals to join our resuscitation team as Resuscitation Trainers.

The post holders will assist with the delivery of basic life support and deteriorating patient recognition and management to clinical staff across all specialities. They will also be assessing learners to ensure that they have met the required competencies in line with the Resuscitation Council guidelines and local policies and procedures.

Successful candidates must be registered health care professionals with recent experience of working in an acute or prehospital setting (e.g. Emergency Department, Ambulance Service, ITU, Coronary Care, etc.). The job role includes assisting the Resuscitation Officer with audit and governance activities and assessing learners.

The job role also involves:

  • Teaching, especially in the delivery of adult and paediatric basic life support sessions in line with national and local guidelines
  • Assisting with ward-based simulations on managing a deteriorating patient and/or cardiac arrest
  • Strong excellent communication skills to operate well in high-intensity situations as an effective member of the cardiac arrest team
  • Assisting with quality improvement projects relating to resuscitation.

The applicants must also have an understanding of current Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines.

Essential requirements

Mandatory requirements:

  • Assessing qualification
  • PTLLS/Award in Education and Training qualification
  • Recognised qualifications in adult health and social care
  • Acute clinical experience in the NHS or private sector
  • Occupational competency in adult health and social care
  • Experience in the delivery of Ofqual approved qualifications
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
