Who should take these Skills for Health Aligned mandatory training courses?

These CSTF aligned mandatory elearning courses are designed for health and social care workers who work in NHS hospitals, private hospitals and related settings. This includes nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and health and social care support workers, as well as locum doctors, agency nurses, support workers and healthcare assistants.

Health and social care workers who do not have client facing roles may be required to only take some of these statutory and mandatory courses. Please check with your employer which courses you require. The Mandatory Training Group will not be responsible if you take the wrong courses.

Why are these mandatory courses required?

The Skills for Health UK Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) was developed to standardise health and social care statutory and mandatory training across the UK. Standardisation of these courses helps to minimise variations between different clinical and social care settings as well as reducing risk and harm to patients and healthcare workers.

The UK Core Skills Training Framework is based on current legislative requirements, relevant guidelines, evidence from the latest research and best practice recommendations. Some of the mandatory courses such as Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR), Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and Infection Control require face to face training in order to complete the practical assessments.

On the day of the training; you will be assessed by one of our accredited training instructors for the topics covered above. You will then receive a certificate of attendance from the Mandatory Training Group within 24 hours of attending the practical session. You will then assigned a range of relevant e-learning modules to complete at your earliest convenience. Once you have completed all the online learning materials for this course, you will be required to complete an online assessment. The reason for this online assessment is to test your knowledge regarding the Skills for Health CSTF mandatory training requirements. You will be required to gain a pass mark of at least 80% to pass the e-learning modules.

All our online courses are accredited and in line with the universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) standards. The CPD standards require a robust process of content development, peer review and compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements. Once you have successfully completed the knowledge test, you will be sent a CPD accredited certificate via email.
