The 15 Care Certificate standards aim to cover all aspects of health and social care, to prepare employees for their work. With the care certificate training resources listed below, you can ensure your staff are inducted with up-to-date, CPD approved materials.

Topics covered include their duty of care as a health professional, and their responsibility to preserve the dignity and privacy of the people they work with. This incorporates equality and diversity training, along with guidance on the safe handling of sensitive information. Care Certificate training within the NHS highlights the importance of person-centred care and effective communication with patients and their families. This is a vital factor in patient safeguarding, determining consent, and recognising signs of distress or mistreatment.

Staff must also be aware of health and safety protocols, including infection control, and safe moving and handling guidelines. These approved Care Certificate eLearning resources also raise awareness of mental health concerns, learning disabilities, and other physical and cognitive disorders that may serve as barriers to communication.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About The Care Certificate

What is the Care Certificate?

The Care Certificate is the minimum training, supervision and assessment that those staff new to care (health and adult social care) should receive as part of induction.

The Care Certificate is intended to be used at the start of a career in health and social care. It ensures that people joining the sector can receive appropriate training, support and workplace assessment before they start to deliver care out of the line of sight of more experienced workers.

It provides a foundation for those working in healthcare support and social care worker roles in England, ensuring that the new worker is able to provide a compassionate and caring service.

There are fifteen standards that must be completed, involving knowledge learning, practical skills development and workplace assessments. Completion of all standards is required to attain the Care Certificate.

How it works

SCTV is a uniquely innovative, flexible, accredited, low cost way to deliver mandatory and non-mandatory health and social care training, 24/7.

From under £1.50 per person per course, you can satisfy your training obligations. Where else will you find full-quality training at such a tremendous price?

Firstly, a senior person in your organisation sets up an account. To do this is absolutely free and does not mean you are obliged to use SCTV, unless you want to.

Secondly, when you are ready to use SCTV for training online, you need to buy credits. These credits are what you "cash in" to use courses. One credit gives one person access to one training course, once. Therefore, you buy as few or as many credits as you need, based upon how many people need what training courses and how your budget works with our discount structure. The choice is entirely yours.

Thirdly, when you know which course, or courses, you want someone to take, you enrol them through your SCTV online account, which is very easy to do. Enrolling someone costs nothing, it's only when they start a course do we deduct the credit for them doing so.

To guide you, there is a helpful online free user guide that explains how social-care.tv works which you can read and, if required, print by clicking here.
