Alternatively, you can go straight from school to study for a BTECH Diploma, Level 3 in Health and Social Care. This adult social care qualification is equivalent to 2 A-levels.

What qualifications do you need to be a social worker?

To get on to a relevant degree, you need five GCSEs A-C, including maths, English and science, and two A levels. There are no specific subjects required, but relevant ones would include psychology, sociology, and law. Although there is no set time limit to complete your NVQ and you are free to work at your own pace, most people find it takes them about one year to gain an NVQ level 1, NVQ level 2 or NVQ level 3.

Is care certificate equivalent to NVQ?

Is the Care Certificate equivalent to NVQ 2? The Care Certificate is not equal to NVQ 2 or a Level 2 Diploma in Care. The Care Certificate is a set of 15 standards that sets out the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected for specific job roles in the health and social care sectors.

What is NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care?

NVQ Level 3 is the equivalent of an A-level qualification and is designed for those who already work in the care sector with a small amount of responsibility, sometimes working without supervision. Can you fail an NVQ?

You can carry out your work in a variety of situations. Gaining your NVQ will give you a nationally recognised qualification. Your NVQ can only be achieved through the demonstration of your skills. You cannot fail your NVQ; you will either be competent at the tasks you are doing or not yet competent.

Do you have to pay for adult social care NVQ?

Do I have to pay to do an NVQ? Often, your workplace will pay for you as part of their staff development. But if you are liable for fees, make sure you access all the funding that is available to you.

Is the care certificate training a legal requirement?

There is no statutory requirement for providers to implement the Care Certificate, so the Care Quality Commission (CQC) cannot enforce it. CQC inspectors do however have powers to enforce regulations covering staff training. As such, they will expect to see induction programmes that meet the Care Certificate standards.
