Mandatory Health & Social Care Training Courses

All NHS Trusts, private healthcare providers and other health & social care organisations in the UK are required to provide statutory and mandatory training for their employees. The purpose of statutory and mandatory training is to enable these organisations to meet their regulatory and legislative requirements.

The Mandatory Training Group has developed tailored mandatory and statutory training courses and programs for Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated healthcare and social care providers. These comprehnsive and high impact training courses advise on current evidence based best practice, minimise workplace accidents and incidents and can improve the business potential of health & social care providers.

How do I book for statutory and mandatory training courses?

To book statutory/mandatory training courses at your workplace or venue, please contact our Support Team in Coventry on 024 7610 0090 or via Email stating your training requirements.

Why do health & social care workers need mandatory training?

The Care Quality Commission states the legal requirements for health and social care workers. Employers have a responsibility to ensure that their employees are qualified to the appropriate level, that they have attended certain mandatory training and that their practice is up to date.

Who should complete statutory and mandatory training?

All healthcare and social care workers should complete statutory and mandatory training. This includes doctors, allied health professionals (AHPs), nurses, health and social managers, senior support workers, care assistants, healthcare assistants and mental health workers.

What are the mandatory refresher training requirements?

Statutory and mandatory training courses should be completed by all full time and part time staff, bank/temporary staff (including those working for NHS Professionals, locum doctors, agency nurses and other healthcare & social care workers).

When all health and social care staff start a new job, they should be provided with induction training, which usually covers local policies and procedures and the core statutory training subjects. All staff should also attend mandatory and statutory training refresher or update courses to ensure that they remain compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements.

What does mandatory training involve?

All NHS Trusts and other health & social care organisations should complete training needs assessments. These assessments should consider the training courses required for health and social care professionals to deliver safe and effective to their patients.

The health and social care mandatory training courses can be delivered using the traditional classroom format (face to face courses) or through online learning portals (E-Learning courses). The Mandatory Training Group can deliver statutory and mandatory training courses and programs at your workplace or other suitable venues anywhere in the UK. These courses can be delivered either as half-day or full-day training courses.

Click on the link below to see the CSTF aligned mandatory training course:

Is the all in one day mandatory training course still available?

The all in one day mandatory training course is still available to health and social care organisations who require it. However, this training course is not aligned to the Skills for Health's UK Core Skills Training Framework. The Mandatory Training Group recommends that healthcare and social care professionals working in NHS Trusts and similar clinical environments should attend the Skills for Health Aligned CSTF Mandatory & Statutory Training Course.

It is up to the employer to decide which statutory/mandatory training courses their staff should attend. The Mandatory Training Group will not take any responsibility if you select the incorrect mandatory training course.
